Directors are what responsible for creating the vision of a the film.
Beyond quick cuts and non-dietetic sound, Edgar wright is known for his syncopation and visual comedy. This can perhaps be most notably seen in Baby Driver.
Throughout the film everything from gunshots to finger-taps is syncopated with the film’s score. Sometimes it is done very obviously, but other times it may only be noticed subconsciously.
Despite being known for his visuals, Wes Anderson has another common thread throughout his films; naivety.
Many characters in Wes Anderson’s film are not very intelligent. They can often be seen making silly mistakes that lead them down the path of questionable morality and demise.
While nearly 100 takes may seem like as meticulous as it can get, David Fincher goes further. He is known for combining different takes within a performance and adjusting the time between them to create the utmost representation of his vision. This means taking 2 separate takes from the same angle and splicing them together through compositing software.
While each director has the own styles and techniques, they all share one commonality; the ability to show instead of tell.
